I've been a long-time fan of Deftones, and hearing that he was in a serious accident (where he wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle) that led Cheng into a coma, I have been praying hard for his speedy recovery.
It hurts every time I hear of these talented musicians passing away, especially so young. I guess us Deftones fans won't get the chance to see Deftones as a 6-piece band with 2 bassists: a fully recovered Chi, and Sergio Vega (of Quicksand), who has been touring with Deftones since Chi's accident. I was personally really hoping for that reunion.
One positive thing though: Chi isn't suffering anymore, and he is now in a better place. His loved ones have gained one hell of a guardian angel.
Rest in peace, Chi.
